You really need to learn the difference between FaceID and gestures, and the home button and TouchID. FaceID is a cool idea but it's not the most practical implementation, TouchID was far more convenient, and time efficient, much like gestures are more time efficient than double clicking buttons. I said the HOME BUTTON is going the way of the dodo, and it clearly is, as they didn't release a single device that has one.Īpple can absolutely bring TOUCHID back, and as I stated above, I really hope they do. No notch, just fully usable glass from edge to edge. I would fucking love it if they adopted in-screen sensors. Not only did I touch on the fact that I'd strongly prefer an in-screen touch sensor over FaceID, but I said (TWICE!) that I felt that TouchID was better than FaceID. I can 100% respect the TouchID vs FaceID speed / ease of use argument You ask if I read what I wrote, did you?įaceID isn’t any faster than TouchID, and I’d gladly switch to an in-screen scanner for fingerprint over facial recognition. I have, at no point, said FaceID is better than TouchID. I asked how, you responded with “personal preference.” That isn’t an argument, it’s just being obtuse and using preference as a shield. Your initial statement said the 8 Plus is a clear win on functionality. On top of this, this years releases clearly point to the home button going the way of the dodo, so why recommend something that is literally antiquated going forward to someone first entering an ecosystem? It’s like saying it was easier to just tap where you wanted on the screen, and somehow better than using 3D Touch or Taptic Touch to whiz around a typed message. I can’t possibly fathom how double clicking, scrolling around, then clicking is somehow faster or better to use (there’s your personal preference again) over a swipe. Regardless of preference, it’s just a fucking waste, and the multitasking use with a home button is like 8 years old now and just garbage. I don’t understand people liking antiquated interfaces and giant blocky buttons that require 1/5th of your device to be unusable glass. No, I’m saying I understand people liking TouchID over FaceID. You keep falling back on preference, then try to explain how a delay (it takes you two seconds to swipe?) is worse. The 6S still has a headphone jack and a home button, so it has all the things people don’t want to let go of for some reason. I can 100% respect the TouchID vs FaceID speed / ease of use argument, but home button really doesn’t have shit on gestures in terms of either ease of use (other than “its always been that way”) or speed (almost exactly the same, with gesture having additional multitasking gestures giving it an edge in speed between 2/3 recently used apps) so I guess if you like antiquated stuff because that’s your preference, that’s fine. Takes all of 2 seconds, no slower or faster than the home button. You can even file this half second (that basically takes the same amount of time as a double click on an iPhone 8) down to even less if you’re good at drawing a 45 degree angle with your thumb from the center.Ģ) again, upside down L, immediately swipe up. If you go up and immediately to the right or left in an upside-down L shape on any gesture based iPhone, it immediately opens the task list. You can have a conversation without feeling attacked.ġ) you don’t have to wait for a delay. I’m wondering why you don’t like gestures, I’m not condemning everyone that doesn’t to the gas chamber.
